Moonhoppers

LASO, a medical services company, came to us with an unusual brief: design characters with nothing to do with medicine, but built entirely around its spirit, caring for others. The answer was Moonhoppers, a colony of rabbits living on the moon who watch over the humans traveling through space around them. When an astronaut drifts off course, loses their footing, or tumbles into trouble they can't get out of alone, a Moonhopper is already on its way to help.

The Concept

The feeling of being looked after.

LASO wanted an illustration that felt like its spirit of care, without ever looking like healthcare itself. So we left clinics and checkups out of the brief entirely and built a small universe instead: a moon, a colony of rabbits, and the astronauts who wander too far from home. Every scene centers on the same instinct that makes LASO's care meaningful: someone watching out for you, even in the most unlikely places. Four illustrations. One reassurance: wherever you end up, somebody's coming.

01 · The Series

A whole universe, built to feel safe.

Most healthcare-adjacent illustration leans on the obvious: clipboards, heart-rate lines, a reassuring hand on a shoulder. LASO asked for the opposite, an idea so far from a hospital that nobody would think medicine until they understood the feeling behind it. Moonhoppers answered with a simple question: what does care look like when nobody's asking for it? We built a colony of rabbits perched on the moon, watching the dark for astronauts who've drifted off course, lost their footing, or simply gone too far from home, each illustration playing out the same small rescue: someone noticing, someone responding, help arriving before it's even asked for.

The line work stayed loose and pencil-drawn on purpose, closer to a bedtime story than a brand asset. No flat color, no clean vectors, just graphite, crosshatching, and a moon full of rabbits who take their job seriously. The result reads as warmth first, mascot second, exactly what LASO needed to carry its idea of care across a website, an app, and a billboard without ever mentioning a single symptom.
